Protecting Digital Signage From the Elements

Despite being a relatively new technology the advances in digital signage and LCD screens is staggering. Improvements in design and implementation have seen cost prices fall dramatically so-much-so digital signage is now as inexpensive as traditional signage methods.

Among some of the new implementations of digital advertising is taking the LCD displays outside where audiences are larger and the message can be more accessible. However, there are obvious difficulties in using digital signage outdoors, primarily concerning the protection of the device.

Some LCD manufacturers are addressing these needs and are developing LCD screens that can cope with direct sunlight, heat cold and even snow.

However, there are less expensive, more practical, and securer methods of protecting outdoor digital signage that will not only protect from the elements but also from unwanted attention from vandals or thieves.

LCD enclosures are a cost effective and more reliable way of protecting digital outdoor signage from the elements. These protective enclosures are often designed to European or International standards ensuring the protection from the elements they offer.

One of the advantages over these LCD or plasma enclosures is that they can be reused. LCD displays have a finite shelf-life no matter where they are kept but when they do start to naturally fade or fail they can be taken from the enclosure and replaced, simply and quickly.

LCD enclosures can be manufactured from all types of material, including food grade stainless steel. Good quality ones are also rugged, resistant to tampering and lockable and secure to deter against thieves.
