Selecting a New Computer Monitor

When you get a new PC then it will almost always be supplied with a new "Flat Panel" display

Many computer users are going "dual display" in order to stretch their PC Desktop across two monitors or just replacing a bulky old monitor for a slimmer one to save desk space.

Selecting the best screen for your needs is important and there are many considerations to be taken into account:
1. Is the new display for personal use solely, for business or for both?

2. Do you prefer widescreen or normal aspect (many business/office staff like a normal aspect ratio display for the extra height when working on documents whereas entertainment users prefer Widescreen for enjoying films and gaming)?

3. 19″ has become the most popular choice but larger screen sizes are also available.

4. What are you going to do on the screen (if you also want to view television, play games or view films then you may require a more expensive screen that is powered by a dedicated video adapater in your PC)? If you just require a screen for office work then a basic LCD screen will usually be ok.

5. If purchasing a new screen make certain that the connection type on your PC is compatible with the new screen (e.g. DVI or VGA connector/cable needed?).

6. Many new screens are available with or without height adjustment which may be important depending on your work location or personal requirements. Alternatively simple display stands are still available.

If you are still unsure about which monitor to select it is worth talking to an exprienced IT company who can best advise you on which display would best suit your requirements.
