More RAM - Say Goodbye to a Slow Computer

Our computers are just machines. We can think of them as a basic tool that think not just like humans think but in a way that calculates and computes what we, the user, tell it to. Computers are made up of various components that all need to work simultaneously and that all need to be compatible with each other. This allows computers to process the information that we need for our daily lives. Sometimes when we buy computers off the shelf we are not getting the optimum performance out of them that we need. How are we suppose to know what we will need in a computer let's say six months down the road? I don't. How about a year from now, do you know exactly what resources you will need to be able to have in a computer? It is almost impossible to predict what we will need with all the advances with technology. Programs are starting to require more and more and from our computers and the better that they get the more resources they will require.

That is why the majority of computers now a days have expandable RAM. RAM stands for random access memory. Basically it is quick storage for your computer to use to remember information about its processes and use for programs depending on what they require. For around $100-$800 you can finally get one step closer to not having a slow computer. No more calls to that computer guy that you work with leaving him messages saying "Help Slow Computer!" Then wondering how long it will take for him to get back to you.

Years ago computer companies would put a standard amount of RAM in their computers that you the user could not change out or expand on, especially in laptop computers. They would do this to save money and they did not want to spend money on a resource that the majority of public would not use. Desktop have always been seen as the computer you could easily rebuild and add more resources to mainly because of their size and allowances with space. Well we are slowly seeing the times change and we are now still given the basic amount of RAM that will work for the general population (to keep costs down and stay competitive in the market of course) but now we have the ability to expand to more resources later if we need to. Especially in the laptops that are available to us. The more RAM we have the better. The computer industry is finally making the right move to allowing the public customize their computers (especially laptops) for each person's specific need.
