Paper handling- Paper handling is very efficient, not to mention fast via the 500 sheet front cassette and 100 sheet multi-tray. All popular paper types are accepted by the device including plain, colour, bond, transparencies, labels and envelopes. Letter and legal are unfortunately the only compatible paper sizes accepted. The machine boasts with a rather large media cap of 600 sheets. Warm-up time is short, not even worth a mention at 1second. First copy or print out is at an impressive 13 seconds
Print Quality- Overall print quality is great. Text is clear and crisp, with no smudges, blemishes or jagged outlines in sight. No matter what the font size, quality remains impeccable. Photo and graphics quality is a couple of notches above what you may expect, on the verge of excellent. However it's a fact that most consumers would rather invest in a colour instead of monochrome printer. Print resolutions can either be 600x600 or 2400x600 dpi, depending on the print quality preferred.
Advantages- A huge disadvantage to this multi-purpose copier printer is paper jamming. Time is wasted on unjamming and restarting print jobs every time a jam rears it's ugly head. This problem has a very negative affect on reliability of the device. If the printing environment is pressed for time or the print quantity is substantial rather avoid investing in the device as it can potentially drive you crazy chop-chop.
Features- The machine boasts with great features such Canon's Advanced Printing Technology having a definite influence on the top notch print quality, copies are produced at super speed of 13 pages per minute for letter size and 10 pages per minute legal, images can be zoomed as low as 50% and high as 200% with different increment settings, 30 sheet automated document feeding, maintenance-free performance due to Canon's single cartridge system and last but not least memory collation.
Connections- Both Parallel and USB connections come standard with the device, making it great for dated and outdated systems. Unfortunately, Windows OS's are the only operators supported by printer, limiting the user base significantly by the rejection of Linux and Apple as well as Windows Vista OS's. Remember to order your USB cable well in advance as it is not included with your investment.
Guarantee- A 3 year manufacturer's guarantee with 1 year on-site service is included with the device. Note that guarantee is limited in terms of parts, labour and service. Terms and conditions are applicable.
Toner-Normal-sized Canon ImageClass D660 toner is included with your in store or online printer purchase. The Canon cartridge has 5000 print cap at 5% coverage. At lower coverage, greater yields are possible. A wonderful feature to the device is Single Cartridge System, making toner, development unit and drum replacement possible with a single replacement. Toner retails for about US$160.00.
